GREGORY CHANDLER -- NFL LABOR DISPUTE ENDS

You can be forgiven if you have not noticed that the National Football League labor dispute is over. Even hard core football fans, like myself, do not pay much attention to the NFL in July.

Anyway.

ARE WE READY FOR SOME SEPTEMBER 2011 FOOTBALL?

Gregory Chandler on Women's World Cup Soccer

Too bad the United States Women's team lost to Japan in the Women's World Cup soccer event on July 17, 2011.

Soccer needs all the help it can get in the United States.

Gregory Chandler -- The Mistrial of Roger Clemens

The trial judge declared a mistrial in the Roger Clemens case.

The hope is that the prosecutors will stop using tax dollars chasing after junk.

GREGORY CHANDLER ON NFL LOCKOUT

It is the first half of July 2011. Therefore, the NFL lockout is no big deal to most football fans.

We hope, however, that matters are resolved during the next 30 days.

Gregory Chandler -- An All-Star Game Win for the National League

The National League All-Stars defeated the American League All-Stars on July 12, 2011. The final score of the Major League All-Star Game was 5 to 1.

The highlight was a 3 run home run by Prince Fielder.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NATIONAL LEAGUE.

Gregory Chandler-Major League Baseball 2011 All-Star Game

Major League Baseball will hold its annual All-Star Game on July 12, 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona. In my humble opinion, the Major League All-Star is better than the events put on by the National Football League, National Basketball Association, and the National Hockey League.

The Major League Baseball All-Star game has the advantage of being a summertime event. The other professional sports play their events in the dead of the winter. Even hardcore football fans, like myself, view the National Football League Pro Bowl as an afterthought to be ignored. The National Football League Pro Bowl is usually played on the Sunday after the Super Bowl. This fact, by itself, makes the Pro Bowl a game that is ignored by the sporting public.

The Major League Baseball All-Star game also differs from the events in the other leagues because I have memories of past games. I still have childhood memories of Pete Rose crashing into Ray Fosse at the 1970 Major League All-Star game. I have, for example, no memories of a play in a National Basketball Association All-Star game.

ENJOY THE GAME!!!

Gregory Chandler on Kobe's Knee Surgery

The news is that Kobe Bryant, basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers, recently had knee surgery in Germany. I also recall Kobe having knee surgery in 2003 in Colorado.

Maybe someone should introduce Kobe to some Los Angeles area medical doctors.
